Salvia Divinorum Treatment for Depression

Salvia divinorum may have potential medical value as a treatment for depression.

Dr. Karl R. Hanes of the Cognitive-Behavioural Treatment Centre in Australia published a case report in 2001 of a woman who had suffered from depression for most of her life. She endured a variety of pharmacological and behavioral treatments with no positive benefits. Her depression seemed almost without cure.

She claims to have found relief for her depression accidentally by first smoking salvia divinorum for recreation. Later she developed an oral method of consumption chewing on two or three leaves three times a week.

She was studied over a course of six months showing consistently low Hamilton Depression Rating Scale scores with no signs of relapse and few side effects. She seemed to be completely healed from her depression.

Many other similar stories have been self published by individuals across the internet. Further research is warranted by the medical community on this matter.

I would get behind this research. After two Salvia Divinorum sessions about a week apart, I went from my not being able to get out of bed most days to actually starting to clean my apartment for the first times in many many months.

Several pharmaceutical anti-depressants prescribed to me a year or so ago only made matters worse than before.

With proper respect, Salvia Divinorum can be a rather powerful mind adjustment tool.

I hope this research pans out and becomes part of the gamut of available treatments for depression.

Take good care,
