Shop Owner Arrested for Selling Salvia Divinorum
In March of 2008 a Lincoln, Nebraska shop owner was arrested for offering salvia divinorum extracts for sale after an undercover officer claims to have purchased it from him. The shop owner denies selling it. The police served a warrant on his shop and produced eight and one half grams of extract.
Nebraska does not currently specifically outlaw salvia divinorum. The police, however, used an arcane law on the books applying to the sale of intoxicating substances which could easily also be applied to alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine containing products.
Its amazing how states with such limited resources focus on matters so trivial. Why build schools when we can build prisons?
